Back from the Dead, pt. 2

EDIT: As of 11:00 AM, 10/5, embedded soundcloud players are having trouble loading and playing properly. Unfortunately, we'll all have to just wait for SC to get everything sorted out before the players on this page will work again. Until then, well, I guess you'll just have to take my word that these songs are dope and collection-worthy!

First up is another dope mash up by up-and-coming mashup artist, 3lau. "Dubsex" is a pretty appropriate name considering how nuts this song gets once it really gets going. One of those dubstep songs that literally puts a smile on your face when you hear the drop. The soundcloud version that I'm embedding is a "short" version but the full download link can be found on the soundcloud page of the song. Enjoy!

Dubsex by 3LAU

Here's a massive dubstep track by Modestep, remixed by Bring the Noize and The Autobots. I've seen the name Modestep floated around before but I never really gave their stuff a solid listen, but I was glad to have stumbled upon this video on the UKF Dubstep facebook page. Unreal drop, crazy music video, solid vocals, good buildup... What are you waiting for? Have a listen and grab a copy and start raging!

Next up is another amazing dubstep song, by Pretty Lights of all people. He's shown flashes of his dubstep prowess on tracks such as his live mix of "The Final Countdown" (highly recommended, by the way), but this song, "I Know the Truth", is one of his first pure dubstep tracks, and its probably my favorite track by him, even if it is a marked departure from his normal style. Have a listen with the youtube clip below and grab the track FO' FREE from his website.

Finally (for now), we have a tune from EDM staple Wolfgang Gartner. This remix by the '96 Bulls creates a catchy, disco-like track that, while not standard EDM, has a Madeon-like vibe where it's just so catchy and unorthodox that you just can't help but dance along. Follow the link on the soundcloud player back to the original page for the 320 kbps download link (in case you didn't get the hint, grab this song. Its a must-have).

Wolfgang Gartner - Cognitive Dissonance ('96 Bulls Edit) by '96 Bulls

Enjoy the music. Until the weekend, keep calm and rage on.

Back from the dead, pt. 1

Starting off right with a new remix by Benny Benassi of a song by Florence + the Machine. Great vocals, awesome beat, pretty standard Benny Benassi. Do I even have to tell you guys to grab a copy for your next party?

My only experience with Gigamesh is his remix of Mike Posner's Cooler than Me (for the record, my favorite version of that song), so I'm pretty glad I found something else by him. This song isn't a banger, its not a dance floor anthem, it may not even be a regular part of your nightly sets. But it's a nice change of pace with a dance-able beat, so drop it once in a while and switch things up.

Katy B - Lights On (Gigamesh Remix) [DL link in info section] by GIGAMESH

In sharp contrast to "Lights On", the new Tiesto track, "Maximal Crazy", is DEFINITELY a banger. Tiesto absolutely does not disappoint on this track, drop this guy as the night wears on and crank your party from 11 to 12.

pt. 2 coming when its not 2 AM and I'm not falling asleep at my computer. It's good to be back!

KOKO - (DJ DIVERSE Kesha BOOTLEG) by thedjdiverse
Next up is another In The Dark remix, this one by Barletta, has a super chill feel to it, and has more of a dance feel than club, very different from the last remix of this song. Hope you enjoy!

A flood of new music

So last weekend I went to TheKollection and just downloaded basically every mixtape and song on their website. After a week of listening to everything (or at least trying to), here are some gems. I'll probably make several posts as it was a grab bag of college rap, house, and dubstep, and any college DJ can appreciate the utility of these three genres in different situations. First up, the house music.

I was really surprised that this song wasn't posted yet, but I'm kinda glad it wasn't because I wanted the opportunity to share it with you. It's another one from Avicii (OBVIOUSLY), this one with AMAZING vocals. The beat is great but not extraordinary, but the vocals are just incredible. Easily top 5 vocals in a house song ever. Yolanda Selini absolutely kills this track.

Avicii - Enough is Enough by rhapsody1447

Next up is another hit from Martin Solveig. Glad to see this guy isn't just a one hit wonder. The song is pretty chill but its a great way to transition into dance music as the night progresses. Check it:

Martin Solveig - "The Night Out" by vinylandvodka

Here is an interesting track, a remix by Aylen of No Sleep by Wiz Khalifa. A great song in its own right, Aylen adds just the right amount of bass and synth to make this a dancable (danceable?) track.

Wiz Khalifa - No Sleep (Aylen Remix) DL Link In Description by Aylen

Finally, I'm sure everyone has heard "Blessed" by Avicii by now (if not, just get it. Immediately. I'll wait...)

Back? Good. Here's a mashup of Blessed with a song by Nicki Minaj (not my favorite rapper by a long shot, but it works here). Grab it and throw it on and throw the dancefloor for a loop.

Mochi Beats - Blessed Bass (Avicii x Big Boi x Nicki Minaj) by The Kollection

Look for a few more posts in the near future as I discover more music. Until then, keep calm and rage on!

TTRainReck of Cars

TTRainReck is a song by Joey Ruckus that definitely gives insight to the going out culture of college. If we want to go so far to say that this could be a night at the JUG, I would agree, lol! This song is awesome, posted both the soundcloud and youtube page, think the video is awesome! Make sure to grab a copy!

TTRainReck by JoeyRuckus

Next up a classic that a needs a place on our blog, Chasing Cars remixed by Richard Durand, nothing new, but hope you enjoy!

Save The World (Dino Roc & DJ CJ Remix)

Great remix of Save The World, has good transitions and new beats that make this remix unique. I love how it keeps the feel from the original song, hope you enjoy!

Lights RAC remix

A great original track by Ellie Goulding remixed yet again.  This time by RAC out of Portland did an amazing job with this, has an awesome chill feeling to it.  The beat that drops at about 45 seconds in is what gets me in this remix.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did, make sure to get a copy of it!

Back From The Break

I am back, DJayB , sorry for the few posts that we had in July but hopefully going to catch back up and provide some great new tracks

Have 4 great ones in store for this post, couple of mash-ups and a couple of remixes. First up "we can play some rock n' roll" in Skrillex vs Afrojack in The Way We Rock The World, a Barletta mash-up. Opens with great bass and vocals, and drops well after a well mixed intro. Make sure to grab a copy over at soundcloud on Barletta's page.

Skrillex VS Afrojack - The Way We Rock the world (Barletta Mash) by Barletta

Next up we have a Sweedish House Mafia remix that is amazing. It is a little on the shorter side, but can be used well in live sets and mixes the beat after the opening vocals makes this remix sweet! Can't wait to start using this in sets!

Swedish House Mafia - Save The World (AN21 & Max Vangeli Remix) by officialswedishhousemafia

This song has been everywhere and here is yet another remix of Levels by Avicii, a Clockwork Remix, which was done with perfection. Make sure to get a copy of it at the soundcloud page, hope you enjoy this, because "sometimes I get a good feeling!!"

Levels (Clockwork Remix)- Avicii FREE DOWNLOAD!!!!! by ClockworkMusic

Final song for the post is a mash-up production by 3LAU called Yacht Week In America, which combines many current songs in a unique way. I am a huge fan of it, but what do you think?

Workout Jams

Starting off today we have a mashup by Basic Physics (of Like A G6 N' Stuff fame) entitled Illmerican Dancer. Those well-versed in new EDM will correctly guess that this song is a mashup of Illmerica and Street Dancer by Wolfgang Gartner and Avicii, respectively, and they'd be correct. But, just for good measure, BP adds in some vocals from Sofi and others to tie the track together. I didn't even have to listen to this song before I was downloading it and posting it on here, but it's playing right now and let me tell you, its a guaranteed home run. Bust this bad boy out during the week at the gym and on the weekend on the dance floor (or at your barbeque, whatever). No matter what, its going to enhance whatever you're doing.

Illmerican Dancer (Wolfgang Gartner // Avicii // Sofi) by Basic Physics

Another gem from the Electro Kollection, this number is a remix of The Island by French Prodigy Madeon. The kid is only 17 years old and he is tearing it up, first with his amazing raise your weapon remix (also found on this very blog), and now this. Excellent track, can't wait for more from this promising producer.

Pendulum - The Island (Madeon Remix) by Madeon

I know, I know, this is another mashup involving Skrillex, and even I'm starting to get weary. But this mashup is seamless and well, if the dude is hot then he's hot, not much we can do to change that. If people are going to make banging, upbeat mashups such as this one all involving skrillex, it would be unfair of me to selectively NOT post them just because one of the guys is all over the place, right? Either way, grab this one because its a great listen, and maybe play this guy on rotation with other skrillex mashups over the course of a few nights so as not to beat his work to death too soon.

Flashback Is All I Ask (Steve Mits Mash Up) by The Kollection

Here's an unexpected find by a group that is completely new to me. F.O.O.L., or "Fuck Our Ordinary Lives", really kill this track as it combines traditional house sounds and structures with a dirty electro backing. Definitely a good heavy track to play late in the night. I'll most definitely have my eye out for these guys in the future.

F.O.O.L - Destruction (Original Mix) by FuckOurOrdinaryLives

Last song is a Gabriel and Dresden remix of Promises by Andain. The vocals in this track are extremely well done and this is a song that has a great trance feel to it that makes it perfect for starting off the night, or serving as a transition from chiller party-starting music to higher-energy party-rocking music.

Andain - Promises (Gabriel & Dresden Remix) [Black Hole] by addicted2trance

That's all for now, folks, have a great week and until next time, keep calm and rage on!

All songs found in this post came from Electro Kollection.

Follow the Music

Just saw this song on Dancing Astronaut, and as I type this, listening to this song for the 5th time in a row now, I just have the biggest grin on my face. Wow. Awesome vocals, massive drop, good pacing, this song has it all. Instant classic. I can guarantee this song will come up at least 3-4 times on Saturday. Already so pumped. And as always, listen to it in HD for the full effect (with headphones or good speakers too, this song is undeserving of those crappy Macbook speakers)

Switching it up, here's a solid House/Prog Trance remix from Tristan Garner of "What's the Point". Not particularly dirty but its a very pleasant track, with perfect instrumentation for the summer. This song is the perfect transition from chill summer music to more intense house music as the day drags into the night.

Avi Elman and Danny J feat. Nuwella-Whats The Point-(Tristan Garner Sunset Mix) by dj dmslive

Finally, since I can't resist posting anything even tangentially related to Skrillex, here's a pretty awesome mashup by Felguk of Scary Monsters, combined with "Unleash the Fucking Dada" and Felguk's own "Side by Side". Pretty unique sound I think.

Unleash The Scary Side (Felguk Mashup) FREE DOWNLOAD by felguk

Until next time, folks, enjoy the music and as always, keep calm and rage on!

GloryToAmurrica - The Independence Day Mix

GloryToAmurrica - The Independence Day Mix by Matt Brunetti

This is my first attempt at a live DJ set, made around 1 AM on the 3rd. It's pretty rough around the edges but for a first set I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out especially considering how wild this weekend was. Constructive criticisms are welcome.

Thanks for downloading and enjoy!

One more thing...

TOTALLY forgot I wanted to post this song. Found it off of Wick-It the Investigator's dubstep mixtape, "STFU or GTFO (The Greatest Dubstep Mix Ever Made)". I'd never heard of a Roksonix original song until now, but after this song I just may have to check more of them out. Check it:

Let the good times roll

Hey all, DJFroghat back from the dead with a great few songs to kick start pre-July 4th weekend (what better way to redeem myself?)

First up is a nice chill (sort of) dubstep remix of Crave You, done by the Adventure Club. I've never heard of these guys before but after hearing this I think I'll have to check them out, I'm sure you all would agree:
Flight Facilities - Crave You (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix) by Adventure Club Dubstep

Next is yet ANOTHER new cut from Skrillex, this time a remix collab with Nero himself. This one is called Promises and it's pretty dope. Rather dance-able too, not like some of his other new stuff which, while awesome, is just melt-your-face-off heavy. [No soundcloud available so you'll have to make do with the obnoxiously large youtube video. Sorry! Watch in HD for full effect.]

Next up is an awesome mash-up from new-to-me mashup artist 5 & A Dime. These guys (or guy... or girl... whoever) have more of a Super Mash Bros. style in that they mix multiple songs together in sometimes disjointed ways (as opposed to the White Panda, who focus more on straightforward 1v1 mashups). While I've grown tired of SMB and their style lately, 5 & A Dime struck gold mixing Deadmau5 and Skrillex. I mean seriously. How has no one done this yet?!? Well, like the dude who patented the snuggie and the person who made zip-off cargo pants (admit it, you all wore those in elementary school...) these guys get credit for creating this brilliant union of two things that seem destined for one another. Pants + Shorts. Blanket + Robe. Now, Deadmau5 + Skirllex. I'll shut up now and let the music speak for itself:

5 And A Dime - Skrillmau5 by KineticMuzik

Finally, I know this song has been around for a while, but it's just so amazing that it deserves attention here. It's a Flux Pavillion and Doctor P remix of Louder by DJ Fresh. Yes, the same DJ Fresh as Gold Dust, and the same Flux Pavillion that remixed it. I think you guys know where this is going, but I have to confess that I think I like louder more that Gold Dust. Like a lot more. Like, maybe top 5, easily top 10 dubstep songs in my book. Right here. Decide for yourselves:

Hopefully now that I've settled into a rhythm here on campus I'll have more frequent posts. Until then, keep calm and rage on!

One for the Ages, Pt. 2

[Alternate title: "Two for the Ages". Get it??]

Hilarious one-liners aside, we're kicking this post off with an Avicii remix of the Armin Van Buuren song, Drowning. Since its got AVB roots you know that the vocals will be amazing, and since it's been given that Avicii touch, you know to expect excellent, uplifting synths. Luckily, both sides live up to expectations, creating the awesome song posted below:

Armin Van Buuren Ft Laura V - Drowning (Avicii Remix) by Johnis

When I learned of this next track's existence, my head almost exploded. Benny Benassi and Laidback Luke? On Cinema? Was there any way this song could come out bad? Luckily, the answer is no. This is a great, uptempo track, sure to energize the dance floor.

Benny Benassi - Cinema (Laidback Luke remix) by digi10ve

Next we have a rather awkwardly named mash up, Angel On My Shoulder Reaver 76. As the name may suggest to those of you well versed in EDM, this is song is a(n extremely well made) clusterf!&k of Kaskade, Tiesto, Hardwell, EDX, and Marco V. Phew. Between the title and the byline, this song is a mouthful. Luckily the song's beats can fill a dance floor too, so grab this guy and watch as your party goes from 10 to 11 (or 76).

Kaskade VS. Tiesto, Hardwell, EDX & Marco V. - Angel On My Shoulder Reaver 76 (Kaskade Mash Up) by Kaskade

Closing out with another mashup, here's another interesting one for you guys. "All Night Long", by 3lau. It's a mashup of LMFAO, Mann, Darth & Vader, and the queen of EDM vocals herself, Ellie Goulding. Enjoy.

All Night Long (LMFAO, Ellie Goulding, Mann, Darth and Vader) by 3lau

EDIT: All songs discovered through the Dancing Astronaut Podcast, episode 24. Highly recommended that you all check it out for the latest dance hits.

One for the ages

Haven't been on here in a while (for various reasons - but as of late, having four gaping holes in my mouth where my teeth used to be has been rather compelling) and I want to make it up to y'all by throwing down a monster post right now.

Starting off this post on a funny note, I recently discovered the music video for the original version of Party Rock Anthem, by LMFAO. Hopefully this news isn't too old for you guys, 'cause I thought this was a hilarious video. Its a great showcase of the quirky, offbeat sense of humor that LMFAO brings to all of their songs, especially oldies like Yes, I Am Not a Whore, etc. So sit back, enjoy, and don't miss the gold robot dude just absolutely crush the frolic at 5:32. Unreal.

Next I have an excellent remix of the Deadmau5 song Raise Your Weapon by Madeon, shown to me by my friend and fellow DU brother, AR from Lehigh.

Deadmau5- Raise Your Weapon (Madeon Extended Remix) by WEST LA CNCT

Moving on, here is an awesome song by two people I've never heard of, Marcus Maison and Will Dragen. Digital Freedom is the name and unfortunately I can't remember where I got it, but let's credit Dancing Astronaut because I feel like I get all of my music from there anyway.

Marcus Maison & Will Dragen - Digital Freedom (Radio Edit) by Marcus Maison

Another one from Dancing Astronaut, this is a remix of Cee-Lo Green's latest single, "Bright Lights, Bigger City". This is a really catchy and dance-able remix with a great upbeat melody. Great way to start off the night with some recognizable star power and catchy beats.

Cee Lo Green - Bright Lights, Big City (The Shapeshifters 'Heavy Disco' Mix - SoundCloud Edit) by TheShapeshifters

I can't believe this hasn't gotten posted yet, actually. Here is Avicii's (relatively) new song, Levels (formerly known as "ID"). Not much else needs to be said, just sit back and enjoy.

Avicii - Levels by nashdelag

Finally we've got two insane new tracks from the dubstep virtuoso himself, Skrillex. Apparently his hard drives got stolen while he was on tour and now a whole bunch of his remixes and originals have been leaked. Luckily for us (and him, I guess), they're all incredible songs, so hey, any press is good press, right? First up is a song Reptile, if any of you watch TV you may have heard this song as the background music on the commercials for the new Mortal Kombat game, and personally I think it's awesome that Skrillex has gotten so big so fast that he's already being asked to be featured in games and on TV. This is my favorite of these two songs, potentially my favorite skrillex song ever. Unfortunately it runs at 110 BPM (not even Dubstep tempo, but Moombahton tempo... weird) so it's tough to mix into a set but damnit, that won't stop me from trying to drop this filthy song.

Next is Disco Rangers which is a solid, upbeat dance song at 128 BPM in the style of his Seventeen Remix, Slats Slats Slats, and others. Definitely going to work this guy into my set.
